Bath-time reading ... Personally, to date, I find the whole veg growing thing quite complex. Last year's perfectly formed mini courgettes, squashes and pumpkins were devoured by slugs and I gave up. This year my ambition is curtailed, but I'm not giving up and hoping less is more. I came across this wonderful book by Huw Richards Veg in One Bed! It gives month by month guidance as to exactly what to do when, with plenty of helpful pictures and diagrams and is designed for a single 10 x 4ft raised bed. This to me sounds perfect. After all, a goal should be achievable at a stretch and this still feels both! The even better thing is in January there was nothing to do and February is buying seeds; very achievable. I'll give you updates later in the year. Here's a video where Huw explains more. Learn More. |
Thinking ... I met a traditional soap maker recently who was saying that with shampoo bars there is a 'transition' period while your hair gets used to it. I actually did not remember that. Curious to explore this point, I've spoken to a couple of clients who have just 'transitioned' so to speak and they found the process seamless. I just thought I'd share this incase you were thinking of giving them a try! |

Cooking ... Chocolate chip cookies: an old family recipe that I've had in a note book for 30 years! Utterly moorish and always a firm favourite! 225g Baking Margarine Set oven to 190C Blend all ingredients together, before adding the chocolate chips. With a dessert spoon dollop spoons of mixture onto the baking sheet. Should make at least 12 cookies. |
