Aromatherapists use essential oils to benefit mood and spirit.  At No Secrets we are focused on using beautifully scented oils to transform your bath and shower time to a place where mood and spirit can be soothed and restored.

Neroli

Where is it from?

Neroli oil is produced from the blossom of the bitter orange tree.  The oil is extracted by the steam distillation which produces a slightly spicier, fresher, but still sweet fragrance.  Different to orange blossom, which comes from the same flowers, but is produced in a different way.

How can it benefit us?

Aromatherapists use neroli for its soothing and grounding properties.

Fun facts

It is reported that the oil became fashionable after it was used in the late 17th century by Anne Marie Orsini, Duchess of Bracciano and Princess of Nerola, Italy, to scent her bath.   Thus its name Neroli was born!

We have also read that it is reportedly used in the secret recipe for Coca-cola.

We use Neroli in our number Four fragrance.  Please try our beautiful Award Winning Hand Cleanser

Pettigrain

Where is it from?

Petitgrain is extracted via steam distillation from the leaves and green twigs of the bitter orange tree.

How can it benefit us?

Aromatherapists use pettigrain for its revitalising and balancing properties.

Fun facts

Petitgrain  means “little grain” in French.  It is said that the oil acquired its name due to being extracted from the unripe small green fruits of the plant.

Bergamot

Where is it from?

The oil is produced through cold pressing rinds of the bergamot orange fruit, a citrus that looks like a lemon crossed with a lime.

Today they are mainly grown in Calabria, Italy, but also in other parts of the world including southern Turkey.

How can it benefit us?

Aromatherapists use bergamot for its uplifting and energising properties.

Fun facts

The name bergamot derives from ‘begarmundi’ meaning in Turkish the 'Prince's Pear'.

Bergamot oil is used to make the distinctive flavour of Earl Grey tea.

It was used in the original ‘Eau de Cologne’ produced in the first part of the 18th century.
