Me Time Musings, July 21

July 2021: Here's the things we're reading, loving, cooking and thinking about ... Enjoy!

Bath-time reading ...

A very interesting book with lots of great information about diet and skin and some good recipes and advice too. Amazing testimonials and beautiful photography. I'm enjoying reading and trying some of the recipes.

Thinking ...

I recently sent a card to a close friend, just to say 'Hello and I miss you!'  In this era of texts and emails, it is so nice to receive something unexpected in the post! I rather messed up on the stamp though and she had to pay to receive it, but thankfully she still loved the thought!

Loving ...

This month we won a Silver and a Bronze in the 2021 Free From Skincare Awards!

And ....

A GOLD Award from Top Sante for Best Body Bar! You can see us in August's edition of the magazine.

I'm going to share a bit more about it in a further email, but these are the headlines so far ....

Cooking...

A really different way to use cabbage and a taste revelation!

Cabbage Steaks from The Healthy Skin Kitchen by Karen Fischer

1 small-medium whole white cabbage
2 tsps Olive oil (or your choice of cooking oil)
1 tsp garlic powder

Preheat oven to 180C, line a baking sheet, or oven proof dish, with baking parchment and set aside.
With a cook's knife, remove the outer layers of the cabbage and trim the stem/base so the cabbage can stand on your worktop.
Cut 1.5cm thick slices 'steaks!'
Rinse them with water so they are damp. Then using a pastry brush, or fingers, apply your chosen cooking oil to both sides of the steak. (I used olive).

Place them on the baking tray and sprinkle with garlic powder.
Bake for 20mins, turn and bake for a further 20mins!

DO keep checking to make sure they don't burn. Adjust oven accordingly.

We ate with grilled fish.
